About me and my site

Okay, now for the description of Jamie R...Hmm, I'll let ya make your own mind up :)

Well what's there to say about Me? Hmm, well I was born in North London but moved to Essex, UK where I've resided since late 2003. After developing a sudden interest in aircraft when I was about 10, I thought I'd start Jamierees.co.uk as a hobby when I was 13 - wooo my own site! I was really excited about the whole web dev thing at first and tried to cram as much crap onto my site as I could to try and pull in the visitors - ok, DON'T do that...trust me (it makes you look like a twat as well.) Most of the time that this site has been on the net it has been full of worthless stuff that's really unorganized and hard to manage. I'm trying to keep a small, interesting but manageable web site for any people who wanna read it, not a huge pile of unorganized mess which is just plain stupid.

Summer 2008 will see the fifth birthday of my site, and what can I say about it? I've changed a heck of a lot since the site has been online - I've got older, taller, somehow grown my hair, made more friends, expanded what I know with what I'm good at as well as found that developing websites isn't just about how they look or what they contain, but what they actually do - I mean, I've converted from someone who used Frontpage and Dreamweaver when I first started out at web development into someone who endorses XHTML and CSS web standards set out by the W3C and someone who hopes that my website will be interesting to someone. You never know, I'm that kinda guy...some people like what I'm into, and some don't - but hey, we're all like that.

As much as I call myself a web developer, I guess I'm not (or not anymore.) By this, I mean I used to be playing with bits of code, reading W3C specs and stuff all the time - learning, playing and "developing" stuff (even though it was only small bits and pieces and nothing on a grand scale.) I just don't do it much anymore. I only do web stuff when I have to and not cos it's like an interest thing. I'm still very interested in web development on a whole, although my learning focus (if you want to call it that) has moved onto mainly networking (Windows Server System, Active Directory etc) rather than the web development/design side of things. In the last year I've also got a lot more involved with theatre related work and that is taking a larger part of my time than ever before. I love the technical side of the theatre and it's the next thing other than IT in terms of possible career paths. Right now I'm trying to learn as much as I can about both industries.

I guess my life kinda revolves around IT and technology, but I love it. I've got a love-hate relationship with technology, but at the end of the day, it's great and I don't think I'll ever be able to live without it in some form!. Away from IT and stuff, I'm extremley interested in technical theatre and music. I love playing about with lighting gear and hanging around theatres, trying to gain as much experience as I can. I help out with lighting at my school and at a few venues around my local area.

I also love music and I enjoy doing disco with my best mate Ricky - aka LxRixTa. We are able to provide complete lighting and sound for parties and other events around Colchester, Essex, UK at very competitive rates! If you ever wanna disco, let us know!

If you want to contact me, then please do - either via the contact form or through MSNM - my dotNet passport enabled address is messenger [at] jamierees [dot] co [dot] uk. I hope I come across as a decent, respectful and honest bloke to most people - I can't tell what people think of me, that's just me.
